HareJugged hare is not for the faint hearted, but it is well worth a try …  At this time of year they are ready and a great delicacy.

Having just been given a copy of Mrs Beeton’s cook book which my uncle found in his loft, I dusted it off and read with delight.  I am thrilled to now own a copy of Mrs Beeton, which tells you how to wash your hare!  Her version of dredging it in flour and frying it in boiling butter, is a real cholesterol frenzy so we have calmed it down to be a tasty winter treat.

Cider MakingWhen Peter asked “would you like to come and join our family cider making day?” I was very excited.  So I pulled on the Wild Cook wellies and headed off to Markington to pick a few apples.
